Chrism Retreat for Idaho Priests Reflection Questions
Presentation #1 - Fr. Bentz SJ
-- When did you actually respond to the call of Christ to become his priest in the world? Was it early in your journey towards ordination? Was it much later after you had been a priest for a while? What is your real vocation story, perhaps the one you only tell in an edited version.
-- Once you have remembered that moment ask God to show you some of the goodness that has been the result of your saying "Yes" to God. Lives transformed, your life transformed?
Presentation #2 - Fr. Donaldson SJ
--- As you look back on your own personal story of faith, what is the foundational experience of God that grounds your priesthood? What are the experiences of God that sustain you, that set you alight, that affirm you in your priestly vocation, that challenge you?
--- To what extent is your ministry and the decisions you make in that ministry a reflection of your relationship with God?
--- How would you describe your image of God? To what extent has this image changed over time? Which aspects of this image make it easier and which make it more challenging to develop your on-going relationship with God?
Presentation #3 - Fr. Bentz SJ
---Are you called to serve a person or in a place? Who is that person and/or where is that place? And why does that matter?
---Has what you are called to changed over time? Are you becoming more free or more comfortable?
---Has God surprised you with what you are doing and who you are serving?
Salve, Regina, Mater misericordiæ,
vita, dulcedo, et spes nostra, salve.
Ad te clamamus exsules filii Hevæ,
Ad te suspiramus, gementes et flentes
in hac lacrimarum valle.
Eia, ergo, advocata nostra, illos tuos
misericordes oculos ad nos converte;
Et Jesum, benedictum fructum ventris tui,
nobis post hoc exsilium ostende.
O clemens, O pia, O dulcis Virgo Maria.
